Buildcost have a qualified Grade III Accredited Conservation Surveyor and are actively involved in the SCSI Conservation Committee.
We have previous experience of working on conservation projects. Conservation projects require a completely different approach to working on “new build” projects. Time needs to be set aside for evaluating the condition of the existing property. Care must be taken to ensure that new materials specified are compatible with the existing materials.
We believe that a thorough understanding of the existing condition of the project and the construction methods together with a detailed schedule of the works requirements is crucial in cost controlling these projects. Some opening up works and specialist surveys may be carried out to assist specifying the remedial works required.
