Buildcost

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Buildcost we are committed, to supporting the communities where we live and work. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reflects our dedication to giving back to those communities.

We take pride in this social responsibility and encourage our team members to actively participate in volunteering through our volunteer days program.

Our CSR approach has been designed to uphold our ethics in business, build on our sustainable and environmental goals whilst incorporating giving back in all that we do as a business.

We prioritise supporting organisations and causes that are important to our team members and invite them to share these details with us regularly.

This ensures that our initiatives are not only impactful put are personal and meaningful to all our employees.

In addition to volunteer opportunities, we integrate a giving theme into our team’s health and wellness events. We organise “Walk and Talk” events aimed at promoting employee well-being whilst also contributing to a cause chosen by our team. During these events we raise money for particularly important charities that are close to our heart.

By providing time off for employees to engage in volunteering activities, we support and empower them to create change in the communities they are passionate about.

Our commitment to social responsibility reflects our fundamental beliefs, in community, ethics, and sustainability inspiring us to work together to impact the world in a more positive way.

Here is what the team have to say...

Ray Mackey, Cost Manager

“In both 2023 and 2024, I have used my volunteer days with the Irish Red Cross, providing First Aid cover at festivals and public events. I am a registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and having the time made available to put these skills to use as a volunteer with the Red Cross is a huge bonus to me personally and to those to whom we aid. I could be providing First Aid Cover at any type of community event ranging from a local vintage car event, local sporting events to large music festivals with over 5,000 people attending. Apart from that, the CSR at Buildcost encourages us to get involved with supporting causes that are personal to us.”

Sinéad Ní Dhomhnaill, PR, Marketing & Sustainability Coordinator

Sinéad coaches voluntarily at St. Eunan’s GAA Club in Letterkenny with the U10 girls Camogie team. They train weekly and have regular matches and blitzes around the region. Sinéad is passionate about being part of the ‘Club Family’ and encouraging young females to participate in a team sport like Camogie. She also uses her volunteer time to mentor at a music club for Scór na nÓg (Annual Youth Cultural event in the GAA). Sinéad says, “The volunteer day programme from Buildcost allows me to participate in events like the Camogie taster days that take place during the week in the school year or help out at the annual schools Camogie blitz.”

Oisín Langan, Cost Manager

“I used my Buildcost volunteer day to help my local football club, and together with the local primary schools, we organised a fun event to get local children involved in sports. The day began early, as we set up various activities and stations on the pitch before the children arrived from each of their schools. When they arrived, we began with warm-up exercises led by the club coaches. We followed with a variety of fun drills, mini-games, and skill challenges to encourage teamwork and sportsmanship among our children. Volunteers and coaches gave guidance and support, fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone left with a smile, new friends, and a renewed passion for the game. It was rewarding to see the results of our efforts to promote youth sports and community spirit.”

Ryan Greene, Cost Manager

“With the opportunity to experience hybrid working at Buildcost, I have the ability to be an active participant in my community. I use my volunteer days to supplement the time I already offer to my community. I appreciate Buildcost’s interest in supporting this voluntary work as part of their social responsibility and community engagement. Recently I have used my volunteer days to help out at our local Sult Music Festival in Gweedore, in the Donegal Gaeltacht. I helped out at this event through tasks such as set up, supervision, stewarding and generally helping out where needed on the day. This Annual two-day outdoor music festival is popular with visitors and locals alike and adds greatly to the community.”
