The development consisted of 250nr units of student accommodation including retail on ground floor.
Buildcost were appointed to cost manage the due diligence process and were part of the winning team in purchasing the portfolio. We examined and challenged the reports prepared by the team to ensure that cost effective design solutions were being developed. Our client could rely on our budgets to make informed decisions on what they could bid for this development.
We also carried out a reinstatement cost of the property i.e. cost to re-build the development. This required us to examine the economics of the existing development in terms of building shape, form, floor area per bed space and have a detailed knowledge of the cost of the existing design and specifications. We also were required to include the cost of the fittings, furniture and equipment costs and professional fees.
